Chenta Cottage, Kuala Lumpur

03:56

It was almost midnight when we finally landed in Kuala Lumpur International Airport. The humidity of the motherland caught up to me as I started to sweat like bullets. The feeling of finally being home after nearly twenty-three hours of flight was relieved.

Hello KL, it's nice to see you again.

Fast forward twenty-four hours later and my parents have arrived the next day, we finally made our way to the heart of Kuala Lumpur to find a place called Chenta Cottage.

My dad told us that he wanted to experience kampung-styled stay in the middle of the urban city and he found out about the quaint little cottage on the Internet. He read up about it and decided to haul all of us to stay for a night.

It was surreal.

The cottage is indeed, quaint. Located in Setapak, my brother and I drove around guided by Waze with my parents and Ika in the other car behind us.

I never imagined to find such a beautiful classic cottage in Kuala Lumpur. I wasn't yet aware of its bicycle-friendly city, charming local eateries and plentiful lakes before this.

We were greeted by the owner, who conveniently live nearby. The old man explained that the cottage was owned by his daughter and her husband- they wanted to give tourists some experiences of living in village in the heart of the city.

We parked our cars in parking spaces that situated in front of the cottage. We got out and immediately explored the whole area.

The cottage was equipped with modern touch- the owner installed an air-conditioner with a contemporary-look in the living room. The interior was quite elegant but still it was instilled with village-homage to the surrounding.

From there, we decided to rest before exploring the city. It's been a long time since we last gathered- we really missed each other terribly.

Our night in KL ended on Kampung Baru, after going from a restaurant to another and falling in love with street foods that were offered. It was then we saw the real Kuala Lumpur : people leaving packed LRT stations, pedestrians crossing traffic-packed lanes, cars and motorcycles swerving, towering busses navigating narrow streets. Everything was happening in sync- it was mad but commanding.

Our time in Kuala Lumpur was pretty short but meaningful. We spent most of our times bickering on where to go next but I wouldn't wanna do this with anyone else.

I love being in Kuala Lumpur, I always have. The amount of diversity, culture and most importantly, the insane flavor of food in a single city has always fascinated me. We were sad to leave but we'll just have to return again, soon.
